Shanti Gowans
My name is Shanti Gowans, I am the CEO of Health Institute Australia. I was born and educated in India, and now live with my husband, on the Gold Coast in Australia, where I am still learning my Australian way.
Having started teaching yoga in Australia in 1972, through a lifetime of committed practices, study, education and travel, I have gained so much, and enjoy sharing these insights and wisdom with others. I’ve reached the point of success in my life, which allows me to give back in a major way. A huge part of my success is because of the many wonderful and loyal teachers, students, patients and support staff that I have been fortunate to have journeyed with during my years of practice. To them I will always be eternally grateful.
I believe in wellness naturally. I believe that the natural, health practices and methods of uniting the worlds of Yoga, Meditation and Ayurveda provide the best options to live a healthy life. These paths share the common understanding that all disease is rooted in the mind’s disharmony with one’s heart, and it is a special and exciting time for the emergence of Yoga, Meditation and Ayurveda throughout the health and wellness industry.
On a day to day basis, I have the pleasure and honour of being able to guide, teach and assist others holistically, through several traditional, healing modalities in both private and public practice. These include the spiritual arts of YOGA and MEDITATION, the health science of AYURVEDA, and the performing arts of INDIAN MUSIC AND DANCE. My work is a marriage between my cultural and experiential background, which has provided a solid grounding for the healing work we do, and my aspirations to be of service in the very best way that I can.
I am a firm believer in ayurvedic medicine. Through Ayurveda, patients experience amazing health results, such as relief from headaches, eczema, constipation, irritable bowel, bad backs, digestive disorders, ADD and ADHD, inflammation, reduction in pain, and the list goes on and on. Whatever health issues you are experiencing, clinically proven, science based, ayurvedic remedies, together with appropriate and sound dietary and lifestyle advice, may be able to help you. It starts with a customised consultation to speed you onto good health.
Leveraging the authentic heritage of these disciplines from my birthplace, India, with the modern voice of Australian leadership, the Health Institute Australia contributes substantially towards preventative, curative and promotive health care through our education and inspirational programs, and our ministry of healing. Through our work at the Institute and through the efforts of our alumni, in yoga classes, teacher training courses, and Ayurvedic practitioner training, clinical practice and retreats, we can all contribute to the larger sustainability of our planet’s resource, its people.
I look forward to assisting you on your journey and welcome you to contact me at my website http://www.shantiyoga.com.au/ or at my physical address, if you would like to learn more and travel down this healing journey with us.

Stefano Notarbartolo left Italy in 1998 to look for living traditions in the East. First he moved to China, as he was attracted by the Daoist and Buddhist philosophies at the root of the martial arts he loved to practice, Wushu and Tai Ji Quan. He studied 2 years Chinese language in
Beijing where he met his wife. He moved to her hometown, Jakarta, in 2000, where he started from scratch as a teacher of Italian language and librarian, then got employed by an international freight forwarding

weight problems. In 2007 the discovery of the deep truths in the Bhagavad Gita lead him to look for a teacher able to lead him on the Yoga path, not just as a physical practice, but as an holistic lifestyle. He then went into two
comprehensive Yoga Teacher Training Programs and attended several workshops in specialty areas in Yoga such as Anatomy & Asanas in Indonesia & Singapore. He finally took the fundamental decision of deepening his
learnings by going to the roots of Yoga, at the birth place of the modern Yoga renaissance, The Yoga Institute Santacruz in Mumbai, India where he attended a 3 Months Intensive & Comprehensive Yoga Teacher Training where, amongst his teachers, were Daniel Fonseca and Jeenal Mehta. He's now teaching full time in Jakarta in 4 studios, at the Singapore International School and for few private students, including some corporates. He's
